We are all interested in SEO and getting up the rankings for our sites but sometimes it seems a bit of struggle.

The basic premise is when we design a site and its layout we are sitting there waiting for passing traffic - people who want our services are looking for us more or less at random based on keying some words that describe their need and what they are after so:

1. Determining what are the terms people are using to search for your type of service - what are these words that are actually being keyed in at this moment to find a site such as yours.
2. These Keywords need to find a home on your site somewhere - and have to be immediately obvious on the landing page of the searcher looking for you (else they will bounce)
3. The web page structure has to be simple and easy to find things with relevant content that matches the keywords and to what the concept the searcher had in her mind when looking for you.
4. Link backs are key from quality sites - we have a lot of link backs at this site but not from like minded forums for example
5. Content that is exciting to your peer group in the WebSphere - so they will want to debate and interact
6. SEO - they recommend a professional service and I agree. I also do not have time for the detail of SEO so will be looking closely at this for Bizface.
