Post Career Uncertainty posted on Simon Donnelly's blog

There are just under 30 million people in employment in the UK. It’s estimated that two out of three are fed up in their jobs! Are you one of those nearly 20 million people? What is it about choosing a satisfying career that is so challenging?

Finding the career that really suits your personality and gives you satisfaction on a day-to-day basis is something that escapes the majority of people. How many people do you know who are actually happy in their work and are motivated to constantly achieve in their job.

Think about an athlete being "in the zone" - focused, intent on winning, driven. There's such a simple pleasure to be had from wanting to get up on a Monday morning to go to a job you thoroughly enjoy. When you're "in the zone" work doesn't seem like work at all.

For people already in a career that they might have fallen into by happenstance and which they're not really enjoying or for students who have no idea what they really want to do, makng a choice of career change or career can be really difficult.

What do you concentrate on? What you're good at? What brings in the best money? What will provide you with satisfaction (and how do you know?)? What your friends are doing?

How about employers? How do they go about getting the right people in to any vacancies they might have? Interviews are all very well but you may not get what you hoped for when you employ someone. It might just be that the lucky soul is good at interviews or it could be that the unfortunate who didn't get the job would have been ideal - they just didn't shine on the day.

At Inner Path (www.innerpath.co.uk) we believe we have a solution based on the "Rolls-Royce" of behavioural assessment tools. A simple questionnaire provides a unique report about you that covers areas of significance for your career. It also delivers an analysis of the career areas that will most likely suit you best.

Interested? Please have a look in the Classifieds for further information.
