Many of you have probably heard of the circadian cycle, and have some understanding of the fact that people are alert or sleeping at certain times of day.
Some of the research on this is helping to inform design of shift paterns etc., but the studies can also inform anyone at work. In particular there are suggestions that people who set up their own business can have issues with finding their rythm now they do not have the standard 9-5 imposed on them (more like 24/7 for some!)
Understanding when you are in the best condition to do certain types of work, such as negotiate or run meetings, can be very useful. Even if you think you know your own rhythm, do you really make allowances for it when you set your diary?
For a bit of fun, have a go at the circadium rhythm test to see if you are correct about your own best/worst times:
BBC - Science & Nature - Human Body and Mind - Daily Rhythm Test
We have already discussed the idea of a short nap during working hours on another forum, now you can check what time of day your nap should be...
Have fun!
