Our client is an International top tier Risk Consulting Organisation, with offices distributed throughout the world. The Forensic Accounting Practice (FACs) is one of the fastest growing practice areas within the firm, providing expert forensic accounting services on a client side advisory basis. Based in central London the practice specialise in helping their clients pre-prepare and / or recover from instances of substantial loss. These losses coming from a variety of business interruption causes, from the obvious, fire, flood, or other such disasters to less tangible threats that may come from brand risk or product risk or fraud. The common thread is that all clients are top tier and the losses, large and complex. Much of the work is post loss, using sophisticated forensic accounting techniques to help clients build accurate reports to prove the loss and potential future financial impact of the event, ultimately to aid the client in getting prompt accurate insurance payment, avoiding drawn out time-scales, and possible litigation. Though increasingly the practice in engaged in more pre-emptive work to help clients integrate best practice accounting processes that go beyond mere governance to ensure that in the event of a severe loss vital information and staff roles and procedures are understood and embedded. The working environment is very much team based, working on client cases with both client staff and senior practice members, and as such requires an outgoing and questioning personality, able to work within a team but with the personality and confidence to question facts in a friendly yet assertive manner. In fact the personality fit is more important than the accountancy background you may be coming from. Though the practice is London based, work is International across the EMEA region, and opportunity to travel is available (but not mandatory). In terms of experience our client is looking for ideally newly qualified with up to two years accounting experience, but will also consider candidates approaching final exams. The nature of accountancy experience is less important to our client than you having an outgoing and questioning personality, though it is considered an advantage coming from a big firm where you will have experience large teams and challenging clients. Salary is upper quartile typically a base between Ł45-60k dependant on experience, with bonus, and flexible benefits.
