NHS Confederation Annual Conference - listain to the keynote addresses

I was not able to attend the conference but I did receive the following link, which allows us to listen (again) to the speeches:

Some important points made in these talks - what about this for a starters:

David Nicholson, announced a new set of NHS system values: compassion; respect and dignity; commitment to quality care; improving lives; working together for patients; and everyone counts.

What do you think of these 'new' values?

Should values be imposed from above, or generated from the staff...
