What makes a good leader? Can there be a perfect leader?

I think so much depends on context - although there is evidence that a good leader is actually flexible about how s/he leads depending on that context, they are very aware of what needs to be done when.

Not sure about whether any leader is 'perfect' or whether they even have to be - again perhaps individuals (the followers) react differently, some may like a really charismatic gung-ho leader and others may prefer someone who has a quiet authority who they know is really gunning for the team not themselves?

I do think there are some people who will tend to make bad leaders though.
