Re: How is leadership different to management?
I meant to reply to this a while ago, as I do find it interesting. Some say it is about things like charisma and attitudes, about empowering your 'followers' and inspiring people. Leaders are supposed to be good at change whereas managers just keep things running. Others say good leaders should be able to manage as well - managing being about getting things done (there is some saying that emphasises leaders 'do the right things'? A lot of approaches suggest therefore that whereas management can be trained, leaders are 'born' - you need the right type of personality.
Others suggest that leadership is an 'act' - something people do when they 'take charge' and that therefore opens up the idea that anyone can lead, it depends on how you respond in specific circumstances.
Management seems to have a bad name in some circles - perhaps we could explor that too?
